boating, admiralty maritime accidents

Clewis & Finn represents victims and their families in all types of Boating, Maritime & Admiralty cases, ranging from injuries caused during recreational boating accidents to injuries caused to merchant seaman, fisherman, longshoreman, harbor workers and passengers. Recreational Boating Accidents typically involve persons injured on or by motorboats, sail boats, Jet-skis, wave runners, windsurfers, kayaks, canoes or related crafts. They include injuries to swimmers, boat owners, guests, divers and unpaid race crews, among others.

The Jones Act provides a remedy for a seaman who is injured as a result of his employer's negligence relating to the operation of a commercial vessel on navigable waterways. "Seamen" includes the crew members of a vessel, such as those working as deckhands, mates or captains, and also those people working on commercial fishing boats, dinner cruise boats, tankers, barges and cruise ships. The Longshoreman and Harbor Workers Compensation Act provides a remedy for those employees injured in the course of maritime employment who are not seaman. Persons covered under the Act may include welders, mechanics, stevedores, harbor pilots and non-seaman divers. If your injury was caused by a defect in the manufacture or design of a boat, vessel or other watercraft, or a component thereof (e.g. gangway) you may have a Defective Products case as well.
